You have still time to tweak your engine (with supercharging, hybrid boost, fuel injection, ...)
(Ride-on protects against sharp/pointed stones in the scree field near the top. And don't forget the neccessary ground clearance.)
I'll carry a towing rope and a shovel.

With my Schwalbe IceMan tyres, I really do not need Ride-On :-D The profile is so thick, almost nothing can penetrate it. Thoroughly tested on Polish and Russian roads. Rides like a tank and super stable on off-road.

I just wonder if my machine could conquer the inclinations. The maximum is about 16 %, with my weight on it. And I am not sure if my 50cc would be powerful enough. I might be the only Dutch with a 50cc there... Supercharging, fuel injection.... I don't think that that is possible on my Grand Dink. At least not legally :-)

Ground clearance? Sofar I managed with my 12" wheels, even in the dark forests of Poland on roads only used by lumberjacks. And of course the bottom plate is made of metal. I would take that challenge with confidence.

Get an used GD 250 (with 249cc 14.4kW Honda engine, was the first Grand Dink of all) and just switch plates. No more dying in Eifel molehills. :devil:
I had the GD250 before, but at about 38000km it started to use much oil (0.5-1 litre/1000km) - and it had only 0.9.
Switched to Xciting 500.

Ah, you bastard :-D . Extremely tempting I must admit, however besides the costs I am sure that Herr Polizist would hear and see the difference. And in Germany they might even be more strict about that than here. So I would have to transport it there on a trailer in order to minimize the risks. And then what would I do with it afterwards?

Perhaps a less risky solution would be to build a more powerful 50cc 4stroke engine with an 80cc cylinder and 16" wheels. What do you think ? :-) That would still be useful after my return as well.

A GD Strada so we can ride in style ;-)

I have a Piaggio Quasar engine for sale: 244cc, fuel injected, 16.5kW @8250rpm, 21 Nm @6750 rpm.
Fits in many Piaggios and Peugeots. Kymco I don't know.
With the standard 14" rear wheel, it might propel a Grand Dink to 130kmh.
(I don't know if a big rear wheel fits into the Grand Dink, but if you think about a 16", 14" should fit easily.)
For the Rollerbank you install a RFID receiver sending a "free" signal to the control unit. (Don't give your tranponder to the cop.)

Actually, to be quite honest, I have been working on a 16" Grand Dink earlier this year. Did all the research and considered all possibilities and it IS possible. However, to get the clearance needed for the larger back wheel, I would need to use a long block such as of an Agility or a People S. And of course a lot of welding would be involved as it does not fit one-on-one. But it would definitely work... technically it is possible. Still a project that I am keeping in mind :-)

However, besides structural changes that would still be a 50cc scoot. A 244cc would be an entirely different matter and even an RFID or any other kind of limiter would not hide the size and sound of a block that large :-)

Not to mention all legal problems in case of an accident.

Unless, of course, you promise to come visit me in prison :-D
